That's indeed what I did. It involved quite a bit of re-work. It's difficult for novices to see that the (Table/Cell) classes are a dead end. You will first get bitten to learn that. It's quite unfortunate that the tutorial steers new people in that direction (in the direction of the cliff).

I'm still happy with my choice to use iText, even with its sometimes counter-intuitive behaviour; it's still better than anything else I've tried.

I've noticed another weird thing: PdfWriter.onEndPage() doesn't get called for the last page. PdfWriter.onEndDocument() gets called only after the last page has been comitted, and PdfWriter.onStartPage() gets called before you can actually write anything to a page. Therefore, there seems to be no way to obtain a callback for the very last page in a document?
