It works correctly. In the first place a 32 bit png is an image with an alpha channel 
that will result in an smask in the pdf. Anytime you have transparency Acrobat uses a 
different algorithm to show the image so, even if the images where the same they 
wouldn't look the same. In the second place  the 24 bit image has saturated red with 
0xff and the 32 bit image has 0xfe red.
