Hi everyone,

We're using iText to form fill PDFs for an application, and are very happy with the library - so firstly I'd like to thank any developers who are subscribed to this list for your work.

I do have a question though - as it stands the user cannot save the PDF offline with the data in the form.  Obviously I can flatten the form fields and the user can then save it, but that removes the ability for them to make further edits to the form (not something I can afford to rule out at this stage).  I have seen some forms (see http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040.pdf for an example) that allow the user to edit the form fields, and save them offline with the form data.  I believe this is because they have document rights enabled, but am not quite sure what this means, or if it's something I can do within iText, or if it's something I need to do to my template document.

Has anyone had any experience with using iText to do this sort of thing?  Any hints/suggestions would be appreciated.

cheers
dim
