Hi Keith,

don't know your project and environment but

+) on a Unix box you can print your PDF to create PS, e.g. I'm doing 
that over a SAMBA printer to generate PS
+) an alternative approach might by Apache FOP but the PD/PCL support is 
not complete
+) the XPDF library provides "pdftops" to convert PDF to Postscript
