I'm not sure what you'd expect to happen. Unicode fonts don't have chars (or
shouldn't have) below \u0020. If you want a symbol representation of a
control code you have the range "Control Pictures & OCR" that starts at
\u2400. Using PdfContentByte.ShowText() the behavior when finding a \r or \n
depends on the font. With ColumnText and elsewhere \r and \n will cause a
change of line but that's an internal itext processing and has nothing to do
with the font.

I use iTextSharp on Windows to generate a report, and some of the text in

report comes from user-entered fields. Therefore I have to be able to

I am using Arial Unicode as my "backup" font in order to feel confident

can render just about anything that someone could type into a text box.
However, I just discovered that character codes 10 and 13 (the \r\n
combination that happens when you press Enter in an HTML textarea) do not
exist in Arial Unicode. This came as a surprise to me, as they do exist
in
my "primary" font (Verdana). I am using BaseFont.CharExists() as the way
to
check whether a character exists in a font.
Does anyone know why these would not exist in Arial Unicode?
Interestingly,
if I ignore the fact that the characters don't exist and just add the text
to
the document with Arial Unicode, it does seem to render with a newline.
