My strong guess is that this is a typo - it should read "user space units"

No, this isn't a 23rd-century classified ad...  :-)

The documentation for PdfContentByte.setLineWidth() says: "The line 
width specifies the thickness of the line used to stroke a path and is 
measured in used space units."

Is "used space units" a technical term, or does it just mean "the 
thickness of the line, measured in points (72 points per inch)"?
