Hi All,
With reference to the below thread in march 2006. I would like to know for
the point (1)
(1) Creates pdf forms (editable).
Yes but not rights enabled. --> What this means ??
If editable forms can be created using itext , can we fill the forms and
save to local or send the filled pdf as email attachment.
Please help me on this.
My Earlier questions were:-
We have a requirement of
(A) Geneating Editable PDF form ( Generating editable PDF forms, Sample PDF
forrm attached with this email )
(B) Extracting form data from the PDF.
(C) Importing the data (XML, or CVS, or FlatFile) into the PDF form, with
this the corresponding fields in form will be populated with the data.
I would like to know whether the above functionalities are available in the
itext. If yes pls let us know which API to use for the above three
operations.
With reference to adobe Live Cycle Designer will generate the Editable PDF
forms by importing the xml schemas and adobe have JAVA API for extraction
and merging. The generated PDF from can also do the form validation using
java script embadded in the PDF.
Please help me to know whether this can be achieved with itext.
Regards,
Srinivas.

Hi All,
I would like to know whether we can use the itext for generating the
editable pdf forms (adobe pfd forms) and extract the form data from the
pdf.
We are currently looking for utility which
(1) Creates pdf forms (editable).
Yes but not rights enabled.
(2) Extract the form data in pre defined XML format (with respect to
a specific XML schema).
You can extract the fields but it's up to you to package them in some XML
format.
(3) Embed any format files' data (not attach) in the pdf document
and extract the data.
No idea what you are talking about.
Attached is the sample pdf form

Regards,
Srinivas.

Hi Paulo Soares,
Thank for the response, I am new to the itext, please let me know how
should I proceed for the below activities.
Point (3) Refers to:
If we have a CSV (comma separated values) file or a text file or
EDI (Electronic Data Interchange- for B2B messages like PO, invoice
etc), how to insert this data into a pdf (like a pdf form data) and
extract the data at latter stage.
Regards,
Srinivas.
