That's marketing nonsense. Performance will depend on what you want to achieve with iText (simple reports, complex stuff with lots of different fonts, graphics,...). Also if you write bad code, performance will be bad. If you write good code, you'll notice that there's only one number that matters: iText is number 1 among its competitors when it comes to speed. If you want to know why, read section 2.1.5 of my book. DO NOT start coding without knowing what you're doing.
