you are in difficult terratory here, PdfContentByte (eg PdfTemplate) has
character spacing (tracking) and also other such features as horizontal
spacing, however, with this you lose any form of built-in text wrapping, so
yes, you can have your cake but you can't eat it.  This means that, to get
your spacing adjustments you will have to wrap text yourself and this is no
small task.  If you decide to try you can set template parameter such as:

template.setCharacterSpacing(tracking);
template.SetHorizontalScaling(hscaling);

If you place ColumnText in your template and your template has the above,
your text will not wrap correctly.
