So I am not allowed to make a mistake??? Please have a look at the CVS repository: http://itext.cvs.sourceforge.net/itext/src/com/lowagie/text/pdf/PdfName.java?revision=1.1 The error you are referring to is there since at least December 2 of the year 2000. In the past 6 to 7 years, NOBODY has complained about it (alltough I regret nobody reported the error). The normal procedure when you find an error like this, is to find the correct page, and let us know through the mailinglist. NOT to make fun of the person who made the mistake. > I'm trying to be polite That's not how I interpreted it. The comment "I've that document here and it doesn't appears anywhere (pages 39-40 are about null object and indirect object), nor there neither in the version 1.2." sounds very obnoxious to me. I may have had the page numbers wrong (it should have been 48-49 instead of 39-40; I'll correct this right away), but the section number 4.5 was right. I quote: "4.5 Names A name, like a string, is a sequence of characters. It must begin with a slash followed by a sequence of ASCII characters in the range!" That describes exactly what the PdfName object is about. So if you say you have read through the PDF Reference 1.3 and 1.2 and you didn't find anything about the PDF Name object, I can only assume you're either a very lazy person, or somebody who laughs at other people's mistakes. It turns out you're neither; you're just somebody who still has to get acquainted with the no nonsense way of communicating on a newsgroup. Please read the following guide lines to avoid situations like this in the future (on this and other lists): http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html By the way: thank you Leonard for the full answer. I know the PDF Reference, so using the index is the easiest way to find the right page quickly; but in my experience, people who aren't familiar with the structure of the PDF Reference yet, really benefit from using Ctrl+F. It's a pity, the advice isn't always appreciated... best regards, Bruno ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
