Hi,
There is another process in step 3 which only works with output from pdftk
(not written by me I hasten to add, legacy code which relies on the PDF
structure produced by pdftk, i.e. it contains a rudimentary parser). So
your suggestion is viable if this produces the same PDF structure, I can
always give it a try but if you can give me an indication whether there is
a good chance that pdftk uses iText PdfStamper.

I've read your workflow, and the first thing that comes to mind,
is a counter-question: why are you using PdfCopy in STEP 4?
Doesn't PdfStamper meet your requirements? As far as I understand it,
you are manipulating only 1 file in STEP 4.
