Hi there
I am writing an application that takes an AcroForm with different fields,
fills in those fields with data extracted from a database and then generate
a flat PDF that is being sent to a customer. I want to keep the fields
formatting originaly set in the AcroForm in the flatten PDF. For example a
date field that is being returned from the database as "2008-05-22" should
be shown as "Thu, May 22, 2008". I'm using a text field with display
mask set to "EEE, MMMM DD, YYYY". The reason why I am not using a text field
and formatting the data before populating it is because I want to give the
user of my application the option of creating different templates and use
the format they need for each field.
If I open the form and fill it in with Adobe Acrobat the formatting is being
shown ok. But when I fill it in with my application it is still being shown
as "2008-05-22". I am opening both the form and the flattened file with the
same version of Acrobat. So my questions will be:
- Is this even possible with iText? I am currently testing it with iText
version 2.1.2u.
- Do I need to save the form in a specific version of Adobe Acrobat
(version 6, 7 or 8, Static vs. Dynamic, XML vs. PDF format)?
I can provide some sample code and forms and flattened files if required.
Thanks
Fernando
PS: I looked in the FAQ and mailing list but I couldn't find anything
specific to this problem.
