So, it sounds like there is not another way to pull it off. I was just trying 
to avoid adding any unneccesary complexity.

It's not about PdfPCellEvent, but the following example explains
how to use PdfPageEvents with Cold Fusion.

It doesn't look obvious (you need to do plenty of extra work), but
maybe you can adapt the example to work with PdfPCellEvent too.
