Most of the times, "plain text" is preformatted. This demands for a monospaced font. With iText you can change the glyph widths to make any font monospaced, but the result is... rather ugly most of the times. > 2. Have you seen some of the table examples in iText? All the borders in tables made with iText are drawn cell per cell. Nevertheless the borders look as one continuous line.
