If you're using Windows, you could use the Perl "system" command, together with
"pdftk.exe".

This would be awesome..  I use java / iText for bank statement production
and enjoy the power of Java in that case, but I have "on the fly" cases
I would love to create a "simplistic" PDF straight from PERL....which I
use like a swiss army knife.

Subject: [iText-questions] Hello from Boston, USA ;-) and Question

Hello,
As I understand, there is no Perl port of iText.
I am a professional software engineer with 20 years in the industry,
including extensive experience with PostScript/PDF technologies, and
also Perl.
Would a port of iText to Perl be a good thing, in your opinion?
That is, are there enough potential users (CGI, mod_perl, Mason, etc.)
to justify the effort?
If so, I would be willing to undertake it.
Please share your thoughts.
Sincerely,
Todd Shandelman
