Create a new PDF using iText and then use its layout engine (paragraphs, columns, etc.) to layout the text. Since the rich text is a subset of XHTML, you could probably even use HTMLWorker for the job.
Then use the template stuff to put it back where you want it. -----Original Message----- From: Claus Brøndby Reimer [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, February 10, 2010 5:44 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [iText-questions] Rich text fields with acro forms Currios if I am on the right track here. I have an Acro Form PDF with some rich text fields, I need to replace some words in these text fields, flatten and store the PDF as a new one, though still keeping the text rich formatted. My plan is: 1. Open the pdf, 2. Grab the content of the text field with stamper.getAcroFields().getFieldItem("MyRichTextField") .getValue(0).get(PdfName.RV) 3. Grab the position etc. and then remove the textfield from the pdf 4. Manually format and insert the content in the pdf. 5. Flatten the form and the store the PDF. Is there any way to have itext to do step 4. Instead of manually formatting.? Can I always be sure the the RV content Is at position 0 in the field item?
