My 2 penn'orth

When first starting I found patience with newbie mistakes, which I now see
get asked and answered frequently.
I got the book and examples and worked methodically through them INDEED
causing me to not ask questions which are 'answered in the book' thus saving
everyone from my stupidity

I don’t get why everyone thinks they have a right to continuing free open
source software. For everything, regardless.
I get why people want to do it, and believe it is right, but I run a
business creating presentations and organising conferences and SOMETIMES I
do work for causes I believe need help for free, less than cost, reduced
rates. And you know what, that is MY choice and the last thing in the world
you have the right to is to insist I do the same for you. My rules, not
yours. I do however have the right defend myself from you ripping off all my
work and passing it off to others

Look seriously at how much iText has added in the last year. This is not a
couple of blokes just doing the odd maintenance and bug fix on a library,
this is on-going progress in some heavy duty areas. So what if the guys who
put in *MOST* of the work want to change the licence to stop people getting
rich off their goodness. So what if it creates tension between the *free*
and commercial versions, so what if it creates a new hybrid class of
licensed open-source which leads into people having paid time to invest in
the library rather than doing it in the garage at night. Their choice.

There are those in the world who, as Oscar Wilde is reported to have said
know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.
iText has enabled me to give really serious value to three charities in the
last year for whom I work by automating really complex processes from a
database. The fact that I can do this for free is BRILLIANT, but if I worked
for a large company who could (and should) afford it then I just don't get
why people want to whinge about paying here. It's quite negative and gets on
my nerves.

This is publically available for free, but it's Bruno's rules. Can's see the
problem myself.
