iText still doesn't generate rich text appearances, no. However, there
is a workaround:
acroFields.setGenerateAppearances(false)
This tells Acrobat/Reader that they need to throw away any field
appearances in the PDF and build new ones. This has some consequences:
1. appearance generation within Acrobat/Reader has a couple old bugs.
The only one that springs to mind revolves around lists options with
numeric values.
2. If you're not opening the PDF in Acrobat/Reader, chances are your
rich value won't be rendered.
2a. That means you cannot flatten a rich value within iText without
opening AND SAVING the PDF in acrobat (or reader if its been Reader
Enabled) first.
3. AcroFields is only available from a PdfStamper or PdfReader. iText
As Is won't let you generate a doc without field appearances IN ONE
PASS.

Subject: [iText-questions] Itext 5.0.6- Set richtext field with
format e.g <Strong>Binod</Strong>
Hello, Going thru the link
http://itext-general.2136553.n4.nabble.com/set-richtext-field-with-forma
t-td2161859.html , my understanding is its not possible to set a field
with html markup, as the markup is shown up as textvalue and is not
interpreted. I Is it fixed in Itext-5.0.6? or Is there any work around
for this? Thanks Aswartha
