You're using an iText version that dates back from at least 2009! Many 
bugs have been fixed since that date. I suggest that you upgrade first, 
try again with a more recent version, and if the problem persists, let 
us know.

Food has an expiration date. If you find a cookie in the back of your 
cupboard that used to be delicious, but that is now covered with mold 
and mildew, I'm pretty sure you no longer have a desire to eat it.

The same goes for software: if you find an awesome library, you 
shouldn't use a version that is three years old of which numerous bugs 
were fixed in numerous updates.
