on the font questions, I'm not going to be able to help you.  the PDF
specification has tons of details about how to interpret the font
information - I would be shocked if Acrobat fonts mapped directly to a .NET
based font - but I truly have no idea.


Regarding point size, I suggest that you take the distance from the ascent
line and the baseline and convert to 1/72 inch (one point = 1/72 inch). 
This is going to be totally dependent on the resolution of the PDF you are
working on.  Technically speaking, there is a "font size" that is part of
the graphics state, and as long as the PDF resolution is the default, and
there are no other scaling transformations going on, then that font size
does translate to points - but that's a huge number of 'ifs'...
