I'll surely take your advice, but pardon me, I'm trying to be more focused
on PADES structure than PDF standard. 
My reference documentation is 'ETSI TS 102 778-1 V1.1.1' and my goal is to
strip all digital signature from a PDF document bypassing overheads.
Is this an a coarse approximation? 
Could you suggest me how can I do that with iText, or can you alert me about
other critical issues/aspects like 'Especially if/when they are compressed'?
