The only reason why we created a C: directory AS A SUBDIRECTORY OF OUR JAVA WORKING DIRECTORY is because building the examples on our Linux server is an automated process using a batch script that pulls the examples from SVN and then compiles and executes them. I don't have the time to follow all your attempts to get something work (you've even lost me understanding WHAT it is you want to achieve), but... your question strike me as odd. I mean: you want to EXTRACT text from a PDF and you claim you need a font on your system? I don't understand why that would be necessary. In a follow-up question you say "I realized that the fonts were already on the system since Adobe reader showed i1040.pdf just fine," but when I look at the file, I see that all the fonts used in that file are EMBEDDED into the PDF file as SUBSETS, so why would you assume that the fonts are on your system? I feel like there's an enormous gap between where you are and where the subscribers of this list are. In my opinion, it's a gap that can't be closed by "personal training by mail." If people stop answering on this list, it's usually because they no longer know what to answer. It's as if you'd like to follow a written course to fly a plane. I don't think that would work once you're in an actual plane. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ October Webinars: Code for Performance Free Intel webinars can help you accelerate application performance.
