You're using MX GNU/Linux 21.3, not Ubuntu. Therefore, the IUP
documentation, targeting Ubuntu, is potentially partially or even
totally irrelevant.
This is why I launched my SourceForge project "lglicua": I wanted
to run IM/CD/IUP on GNU/Linux Mint, and the Ubuntu instructions
did not lead to a clean build of the sources.
