Hi,
I had this in mind for a while too since I've been using mdp as main
music player too
I think this is good Idea... and I can try to help you if needed.
First I encourage you to try to rebuild it using tizen toolchains and
repos (either using gbs or on target)
then maybe file a bug to request it to be packaged and hosted on
tizen infrastructure...
You can also consider mpd compatible servers like :

Next task would be to create a client native or web to control it
