Something I learned about zypper and kernel updates: I needed to add the -devel kernel package, and zypper updated the kernel package as a side effect, since the -devel version I specified was not available in any of the enabled zypper URLs.
This can result in the following situation: if you attempt to install another package that depends on a particular kernel rev, it can potentially update your kernel, and your next reboot mayfail at kernel load time. It is not terribly likely that you will run into this problem, but if you are using zypper to add packages to your platform, you might.
