This is the ivtv-list so it also handy to mention which release of the
ivtv-driver you're using, which firmware, output of dmesg and
module-options.
Arrgggghhhh. Sorry folks. I had intended to attach my dmesg output which has all of that info (except mod options) in it. It's attached below. Here's the highlights.

ivtv version 0.3.9 (development svn snapshot revision 2757M)
no module options
tuner, tveeprom, msp3400 from the kernel
firware:

I don't know how many times I've sent the "take a look at this attachment" message... and forgot to attach the info.

Sorry again :(

Everything is working well (now) except for the occasional and sudden
loss of avsync in recordings from the 150.

Now that the kernel module load errors are fixed (thanks again Adam) I'm
wondering if these dma errors may point to the cause of the avsync issue.

I can reproduce these errors by repeated osd activity in either livetv
or recording playback.

Log is full of the following errors repeating:

ivtv warning: prep_user_dma: SG_length 336 page_count 336 still full?
ivtv-osd warning: ivtvfb_prep_dec_dma_to_device, Error with
get_user_pages: 65536 bytes, 336 pages returned
ivtv-osd warning: Error: prep osd dma to device rc=-5
