I hate to resurrect an old thread but I just gave this patch a shot today, I've had long-standing IR issues, and this actually completely broke the remote. A cold restart used to fix it, and now it does not.

Running debian unstable, although it is not necessarily up to date.
ivtv-0.4.0.
Kernel 2.6.11.
lirc 0.7.1pre2. This seems overly old, but it's what debian has packaged. I'm tempted to try upgrading that to see if that will help the situation any, anyone have any input on that?
