I get the same messages occasionally. Here's some
from last night:

Dec 29 04:31:04 capricorn -- MARK --
Dec 29 04:44:20 capricorn kernel: ivtv0 warning: ENC
Stream 0 OVERFLOW #0: Stealing a Buffer, 512
 currently allocated
Dec 29 04:44:20 capricorn kernel: ivtv0 warning: ENC
Stream 0 OVERFLOW #1: Stealing a Buffer, 512
 currently allocated

These are repeated many times, with #xxx cycling
through various numbers. For example

[...]
Dec 29 04:44:42 capricorn kernel: ivtv0 warning: ENC
Stream 0 OVERFLOW #16: Stealing a Buffer, 51
2 currently allocated
Dec 29 04:44:45 capricorn kernel: ivtv0 warning: ENC
Stream 0 OVERFLOW #0: Stealing a Buffer, 512
 currently allocated
Dec 29 04:44:46 capricorn kernel: ivtv0 warning: ENC
Stream 0 OVERFLOW #1: Stealing a Buffer, 512
 currently allocated
[...]

and

[...]
Dec 29 04:44:48 capricorn kernel: ivtv0 warning: ENC
Stream 0 OVERFLOW #137: Stealing a Buffer, 5
12 currently allocated
Dec 29 04:44:51 capricorn kernel: ivtv0 warning: ENC
Stream 0 OVERFLOW #0: Stealing a Buffer, 512
 currently allocated
[...]

but then it suddenly stopped (after ~2000 lines):

[...]
Dec 29 04:46:09 capricorn kernel: ivtv0 warning: ENC
Stream 0 OVERFLOW #360: Stealing a Buffer, 5
12 currently allocated
Dec 29 04:59:01 capricorn /usr/sbin/cron[7744]: (root)
CMD ( rm -f /var/spool/cron/lastrun/cron.h
ourly)
[...]

There was at least once, however, that it filled up
the partition with a gig or two of this and crashed
the system. (I'm also using mythtv, 0.18.1 with ivtv
0.4.1 on a pvr 350).
