For me ivtvctl -y volume=<num> only sets the recording volume level. I
would prefer the opposite: record always with full volume and adjust the
volume on playback. I will take another look at this. Something that
would really help to understand the problem is a wiring plan of the
PVR-350. I don't even know if the  SCART1 audio output of the MSP4418G
is really connected to the SCART cable output of the PVR-350. The sound
is fed into the SCART cable by a separate audio cable that is connected
to the audio output of the PVR. This could also be the aux output...

No I didn't mention myth or vdr - I've not decided yet which one I will
use. I wanted to make sure that the driver is working before trying to
use a frontend for it.
