I posted this to the users list last week but didn't get a response, I'm hoping someone here can help me out.
I have a machine with 2 Avermedia M179's. I recently started getting these DMA errors, and when that happens, the video/audio from the card gets crappy: Mar 13 22:16:23 localhost kernel: ivtv0 warning: ENC: (0) DMA Error 0x0000000b Mar 13 22:32:00 localhost kernel: ivtv1 warning: ENC: (0) DMA Error 0x0000000b Mar 13 22:32:30 localhost kernel: ivtv1 warning: ENC: (0) DMA Error 0x0000000b Artifacts appear in the video, and the audio gets kind of choppy/jumpy/poppy. I never have had these errors in the past, but I recently upgraded to a 64 bit processor, so I don't know if this is a hardware problem or a software problem (or a combination...) I pasted the pertinent contents of /var/log/messages below. I also have a sample of what the video is like when this happens at http://robotics.caltech.edu/~klk/zpublic/badvideo.mpg Machine info: Fedora Core 4 x86_64 2.6.15-1.1833_FC4 ivtv 0.4.3-105.rhfc4.at Encoder revision: 0x02050032 Decoder revision: 0x02020023 Thanks for any help, Kristo ----------------------- Mar 13 22:08:03 localhost kernel: ivtv: version 0.4.3 (tagged release) loading Mar 13 22:08:03 localhost kernel: ivtv: Linux version: 2.6.15-1.1833_FC4 gcc-4.0 Mar 13 22:08:03 localhost kernel: ivtv: In case of problems please include the debug info between Mar 13 22:08:03 localhost kernel: ivtv: the START INIT IVTV and END INIT IVTV lines, along with Mar 13 22:08:03 localhost kernel: ivtv: any module options, when mailing the ivtv-users mailinglist.
