I don't remember if anyone responded to you already or not. Not that I have an answer for you, but you could use the notes that I've made for myself and anyone else interested, which includes building the framebuffer. Although you mention having had it working before so I don't know what value it will be for you. The steps I used are documented for determining, retrieving and building the Xorg Windows with the ivtv framebuffer.
