My main MythTV backend has a PVR 350 and a 250 (both 3 years old).
It's been extremely stable over the last year or two going through
ivtv driver versions 0.4.x, 0.6.x and 0.7.x. I recently updated to
ivtv version 0.8.0 (along with Linux 2.6.18.x) and had 3 partial
lockups in a period of 5 days. I've since switched back to ivtv 0.7.1
(with the Linux 2.6.17.13) and haven't had a lockup in 4 days, so I'm
reasonably sure the problem lies with ivtv 0.8.0 or Linux 2.6.18.x.

When the lockup occurs, the driver stops providing data on /dev/videoN
and whatever process was reading it just hangs. IOW, MythTV is
happily recording a program, when something happens and MythTV blocks
on a read that never finishes. After that, any reads on /dev/videoN
also block.

I had to reboot to fix the problem. I don't know if reloading the
driver without rebooting would have also fixed it. It had been so
long since I'd had ivtv problems, I forgot to try that.

Anyway, I didn't find anything in the logs to help shed light on the
problem. Hans, if there's anything you'd like me to try to help debug
the problem, let me know.
