I'm new to the list, but what does 'modprobe -v -n ivtv' result in?
On my system, I get...

snape ~ # modprobe -v -n ivtv
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.18-gentoo/kernel/drivers/media/video/v4l2-common.ko
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.18-gentoo/kernel/drivers/media/video/v4l1-compat.ko
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.18-gentoo/kernel/drivers/media/video/videodev.ko
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.18-gentoo/kernel/drivers/media/video/tveeprom.ko
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.18-gentoo/kernel/drivers/media/video/cx2341x.ko
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.18-gentoo/kernel/drivers/base/firmware_class.ko
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.18-gentoo/extra/ivtv.ko

but obviously I'm messing around with 2.6.18.

You might also check with 'modinfo <each module>' and see if it has
some broken dependancy? Are you using the modules for tveeprom, etc
from ivtv or from the kernel?
