Hi Steve, the pvr350-plugin uses of course the hardware decoder of the pvr350. No X is needed, only the ivtv-fb module. As Hans already said, the code I posted only sets the wss bit for the TV.
The plugin-sources from 2007-09-06 do not include this stuff. For now, it is only on my test machine. Although it works fine, I don`t want to release a new plugin version yet: - works only with a very current driver (as Hans explained) - stopping the decoder always disables the VBI signal. I am using the decoder stop ioctl for clearing the buffers (necessary for smooth channel switching). The result is for example, that the TV goes shortly on 4:3 when you switch from one 16:9 stream to another 16:9 stream. I suggested Hans to introduce a VIDEO_CLEAR ioctl which only clears the buffers, but not shut down all the decoder stuff.
