Could you please clarify which cx18 device you are using (since that
largely effects which tuner/demod are onboard)?

Assuming you're talking about the HVR-1600, generally speaking, the
perfomance should be comparable to Windows, although admittedly my
previous analysis was restricted to ClearQAM performance.  It would be
a helpful exercise if you could boot up Windows and see how it does,
as this will tell us if it's simply a hardware limitation or perhaps
the demod is improperly programmed compared to the Windows driver.
