I have just setup a debian system running kernel 2.4.27 and I have tried to compile ivtv version 0.1.9 and I also tried 0.1.10pre2. I get the same result with both of them. Everything seems to compile without problems. I have everything setup in the modules.conf but when I try to modprobe msp3400 I get the following error:
/lib/modules/2.4.27-1-386/kernel/drivers/media/video/msp3400.o: /lib/modules/2.4.27-1-386/kernel/drivers/media/video/msp3400.o: unresolved symbol exit_files_Ra784a90f
Browsing through the archives I found several references to this that indicated it could be caused by miss matched versions of the kernel image and kernel headers. So I double checked my install and they seem to match.
Any ideas what the problem might be?
Check to make sure that you only have one msp3400.o. Many distributions contain this module. You need to rename the module provided with the distribution, and use the version that was compiled with ivtv.
