It would seem you didn't finish (or you did, but FC3 is still doing it the way it wants). :)I have been going around in circles trying to get this to work and would appreciate any advice. I have a PVR-350 running on Fedora Core 3 with Kernel 2.6.9-1.667.
I have tried using the ivtv modules and packages from apt-get as well as compiling ivtv-0.2.0-rc3a.tar. I have gotten it to the point where I can see a test picture when I run:
# /sbin/rmmod saa7127 # /sbin/modprobe saa7127 test_image=1
But I only get snow (snow that resembles somwhat of a pattern) sometimes I can see a glimpse of picture under a haze when I run:
# /usr/bin/ivtvfbctl /dev/fb0 -noglobalalpha
-localalpha
# dd if=/dev/video0 of=/dev/video16 bs=64k
(control-c to stop)
The following is the full output when I load ivtv, the current section does not have the ivtv-fb loading at the end as it can't be unloaded but it normally loads ok. I have started to attempt to patch the tuner.c kernel module based on the advice of http://205.209.168.201/~ckennedy/ivtv/new_tuners/ but it doesn't seem to be helping. Any help would be much appreciated!
Dec 6 23:53:05 pvr kernel: ivtv: version 0.2.0 (rc3)The tuner module in Linux 2.6.9 contains a bad definition for the LG TAPE tuner. You need an updated version. It is available from Axel's video4linux snapshot package on ATrpms. You may also compile it yourself by patching the kernel with the patch at http://ivtv.no-ip.com/new_tuners/ .

Since you've tried patching/compiling the kernel module, I would guess that your system is still using the old tuner module. Therefore, my recommendation is to focus your efforts on getting the video4linux snapshot RPM installed instead--it will take care of all the stuff required to ensure the new module is used. Unfortunately, though, I can't really help with getting the RPM installed since I don't use FC or RPM's; however, you'll find many posts on this list referring to the RPM's.
