yes.

if you don't have any fb devices loaded before ivtv
(ie ivtv gets /dev/fb0) then the consoles
automatically switch to the ivtv framebuffer

in order to get (most) of the console messages, you'll
have to load ivtv in an initrd (initial ramdisk) at
startup. There have been posts on that in the past.
