Hey there,

I have a small, hopefully easy for those with knowledge on topic, ques. My
mahcine has a older Via based mainboard. Somewhere I read these chipsets
have problems when the PCI bus gets pretty full. This is greatly visible
under windows, as I can't use my card properly on it without the system
rebooting within 10 minutes (in several setups/programs / driver
combinations / PCI slots. in some slots I can't use it at all under
windows (instant reboot upon accessing the card)). This is when only 1 of
the 2 tuners on my PVR-500 is active. Under linux I can run both tuners
without problems / weird log entries. The image isn't crisp though and I
always figured it is because my tuner isn't (fully) supported yet (btw, I
saw some posts on the tuner Philips FQ1216AME MK4, I'm willing to help
debug / provide access).

But anyways for the question. Can my image quality be affected by this PCI
bus issue? I don't know how linux handles it / why it's stable when
windows is not, but if it would drop frames or whatever, it would ofcourse
affect the image quality.

Reason I'm asking is that I need to know if I'll have to buy a new
mainboard and all my previous testing would have been (reasonably)
useless. They aren't that expensive, but I wouldn't want to buy one if it
isn't necessary ofcourse.

Kind regards
