Thanks Anthony. I tried enabling the extra audio buffering but it didn't seem to help. I may try setting mythtv to use alsa instead of oss audio output also. Can jack be used?
Thanks for the mplayer patch, I may give that a go. I really wish it wasn't needed... it seems a shame that an open source app has invented yet another video format.
