I've compiled several 0.3 versions, circa 0.3.2d through i, against both 
2.6.10-1-k7 and 2.6.11-1-k7, no problems to speak of. Those are the very 
kernels I was actively working with while patching up the ivtv 0.3.x tveeprom 
and tuner modules...

I did that too. Maybe that's the key? I suppose it could be something 686 
(doubtful) or smp (maybe) related...
