I also have the IR Receiver/Blaster on my 150, and one thing that I
noticed is that you have to be very careful to make sure the device is
actually pushed in all the way. At first I thought it was all the way
in, but then I discovered that it was only half way. (Like when you
have a stereo jack and you only put it half way in and only get one
channel). You have to make sure that the cut-out on the gray plastic bit is facing up, otherwise you won't have enough clearance to get the
connector all the way in... And I found you have to shove it in pretty
hard. If it's not too much trouble, you might want to take the card out
and put the IR piece on it while you can get a good look and see that
you're putting it in all the way.

Thanks for the feedback.
I checked the connection and it seems fine.

The other thing is... make sure you don't limit yourself to just using
irw to do your check. If you cat the device, and it's the correct
device, you should see some strange characters output to the screen. This will at least help you determine whether it's a hardware/driver
issue or a config issue.

I was using irrecord but that didn't pick up any signal either.
Went to the ultimate step in Linux hardware dubugging today, I tried the card with windows :-). The ir software that came with the PVR150 didn't work either in XP. So I'm pretty convinced right now the receiver must be broken. Whent trought a box of old cables and found a serial ir thingie. Hooked it up and 10 minutes and a lirc recompile later I had it working just fine. Remote-controlling mythtv with the Hauppauge remote.
