I know this is going to sound crazy, but... Can a PVR350 (using ivtv installed with framebuffer support and a recompiled Xorg) kill the ability of Xorg to run the core keyboard? I ask because I'm in this strange situation:
1) Generally, the keyboard (connected to a PS/2 port) doesn't work at all for the Xorg that I boot that uses the ivtv framebuffer (for MythTV). Actually, about 1 in 10 times it does function, seemingly at random. 2) If I boot with a knoppix cd, only using the regular on-board VGA card and monitor as output, the keyboard works fine. 3) If I boot the installed system as runlevel 5 (which in my case is just a plain kde3 desktop - runlevel 3 is myth with the ivtv framebuffer) the keyboard works fine. 4) During boot, if I enter bios setup or anything else, keyboard works fine. Only is it when I use the ivtv framebuffer does the keyboard give me heartache, even though I'm using the same Keyboard and Mouse drivers that are listed for the "normal" X server layout. Also, like I said, 1 in 10 reboots results in a functional keyboard with ivtv on the PVR350 output. Occasionally, I get lines like the following in /var/log/messages: Jun 13 20:39:21 capricorn kernel: atkbd.c: Spurious ACK on isa0060/serio0. Some program, like XFree86, might be trying access hardware directly. It's also worth noting: for months, all was working fine. There was one time when the system became unresponsive, and I hit ctrl-alt-delete a several times in quick succession, and this is when the trouble started (this was about 2 weeks ago). Other things I've tried: upgrading the BIOS, clearing the CMOS settings, reinstalling Xorg, reinstalling ivtv, changing the keyboard driver from "kbd" to "keyboard", changing keyboards. Nothing has worked. Like I said, it seems to have something to do with the PVR350 card. Is there any way to reset it in a way that might fix this? Is there something else I should try? I'm becoming convinced it's the PVR card that is fubar'ing my Xorg keyboard. Cheers. ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Discover Easy Linux Migration Strategies from IBM.
