Hi,

I live in Switzerland and have a PVR150 now using the ivtv-0.3.6p driver. Many
foreign TV programmes are broadcast in two languages with German on channel A
and the original (usually English) on channel B. Unfortunately, by default ivtv
records either Stereo or channel A.

Can I configure the driver to either:

 * always record from channel B rather than A; or
 * record both sound channels ( and use myth's left/right channel muting)?
Good question. While we don't have anything built in to handle this, maybe we can figure out how to get it working for you. The first thing I'd suggest trying would be to set the PREF_MODE of the audio subsystem on the cx25840 (although this may have no effect if your card uses a tda9887 for its audio):
echo PREF_MODE=n | cx25840ctl -s

n is by default = 4, here are some other options to try from the spec sheet:
Note: Not all settings apply to all standards. If PREF_MODE is set to
an invalid mode for the currently detected standard, best available
mode will play.
0 = Mono/Language A: If mono, play mono; if dual or NICAM
TRIVOX, play language A; if stereo, force to mono (L+R out of both
channels).
1 = Language B: If dual or NICAM TRIVOX, play language B; if
mono, play mono; if stereo, play stereo.
2 = Language C: If NICAM TRIVOX, play language C; if mono, play
mono; if dual, play language A; if stereo, play stereo.
3 = Analog Fallback: If NICAM mono, dual, or stereo, play analog
fallback; if other mono, play mono; if other dual, play language A; if
other stereo, play stereo.
4 = Stereo: If stereo, play stereo; if mono, play mono; if dual or
NICAM TRIVOX, play language A.
5 = Language AC: If NICAM TRIVOX, play language A on left and
language C on right; if mono, play mono; if dual, play language A; if
stereo, play stereo.
6 = Language BC: If NICAM TRIVOX, play language B on left and
language C on right; if mono, play mono; if dual, play language A; if
stereo, play stereo.
7 = Language AB: If dual or NICAM TRIVOX, play language A on left
and language B on right; if mono, play mono; if stereo, play stereo.
