Subject: [ivtv-devel] PVR-150 freeze after wake from S3 (suspend to RAM)
Date: Tue, 28 Jun 2005 22:24:18 +0200

Hello,

I'm not sure of this the right forum for this kind of stuff, but go ahead and flame me if you feel like :-) I'm having trouble getting ivtv and my PVR-150 card functioning after wake-up from S3. Everything works fine for a few minutes, but suddenly freezes ('mplayer /dev/video0'). 'dmesg' using an older version (0.3.6o i think) gives:

ivtv: Timeout waiting for data! Encoder buffers have 0x00000000 bytes trans_id = 245.
ivtv: Check digitizer Sync
ivtv: Resetting digitizer
cx25840: Reset
cx25840: requesting /lib/modules/HcwMakoA.ROM
cx25840: firmware loaded
ivtv: Trying to restart capture.
ivtv: Setup VBI API header 0x0000bd0d pkts 1 buffs 4 ln 36 sz 1444
ivtv: Setup VBI start 0x002fea04 frames 4 fpi 1 lines 0x00000140
cx25840: decoder disable output
cx25840: decoder enable output
cx25840: decoder set norm PAL
cx25840: decoder set input (6)
cx25840: now setting Tuner input
cx25840: set audio input (0)

Using the latest version (0.3.6t) I get the same freeze but 'dmesg' now gives:

ivtv: Allocate DMA encoder MPEG stream: 128 x 32768 buffers (4096KB total)
ivtv: Setup VBI API header 0x0000bd0b pkts 1 buffs 4 ln 36 sz 1444
ivtv: Setup VBI start 0x002fea04 frames 4 fpi 1 lines 0x00000140
cx25840: decoder disable output
cx25840: decoder enable output
cx25840: decoder set norm PAL
cx25840: decoder set input (6)
cx25840: now setting Tuner input
cx25840: set audio input (0)

Everything works fine upon cold boot.
I remove all ivtv (I think...) modules before suspending and reload them after wakeup. Is there a way to reset the card via software? (I've tried to reaload the firmware and reset IR with ivtvctrl, but it doesn't help). The Hauppauge are known for having problem with suspending, but I heard of a windows solution which basically reloaded the drivers, so I believe it shouldn't be impossible to get it to work...

Regards,
Christian

PS.
You developers are doing a great job! Keep it up!
