Also, the replies in this thread led me to discover the following as well:

in my ./ivtv-0.3.6w/doc directory (in the source tree) there are a bunch of
README files, including README.devices, which describes each device, including
 /dev/video32 

looks like all devices, except /dev/vbiXX, apply to all the PVR cards.
