In my x11 over pvr 350 use so far, I have compiled X (xorg 6.8.1) with the incr-DMA stuff found in the ivtv driver .tars. Is this really necessary, or can the precompiled ivtv_dev driver simply be dropped into the modules of a working, vanilla xorg?
This post http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/ivtv/devel/15024 appears to imply (thanks John P. Harvey) that compiling is not necessary. Is it true that the binary driver can be used directly?
