It all depends what you want. 0.10.4 will (should) work with 0.2 driver but won't enable Xv support (this needs latest 0.3 ivtv). At that point the 0.10.4 driver will behav exactly like the 0.8 driver so there is no advantage changing from the driver bundled with 0.2. If you want Xv support you need to get the latest ivtv driver working.
