Hi all, I've been playing with my PVR-350 for the last while trying to get tuning to work.
Currently, I'm not getting anything but 'snow' on the tuner source for all channels. When I set the source to svideo I'm able to get a black and white image of whatever I'm inputting into the port via svideo. At first, tuning worked well and I was able to use ptune.pl to change channels on the /dev/video0 device (my PVR-350 card). After getting ivtv-fb working, I am completely unable to tune with the same card again. I've been going back and forth verifying my settings to no avail. I've checked over my ivtv log and all seems 'sane' and according to the ivtv patch 'faq' [http://www.ivtv.tv/releases/new_tuners/] my tuner is being properly detected so I don't seem to need to patch and rebuild (this is the same installation that I had working the first time around.) I'm currently working from the instructions at [http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/fcmyth.php] and building the system on a fedora core 2 machine. Here are the packages I have installed that are related to my ivtv installation: rpm -qa | grep ivtv ivtv-firmware-1.8a-4.at ivtv-0.2.0-69_rc3k.rhfc2.at perl-Video-ivtv-0.13-7.rhfc2.at ivtv-kmdl-2.6.10-1.771_FC2-0.2.0-69_rc3k.rhfc2.at ivtvdev-0.10-2.rhfc2.at ivtv-firmware-enc-2.04.024-4.at ivtv-firmware-dec-2.02.023-4.at Here are the contents of my /etc/modprobe.conf related to the ivtv modules: # ivtv modules setup alias char-major-81 videodev alias char-major-81-0 ivtv alias tveeprom tveeprom-ivtv #install ivtv /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install ivtv; /sbin/modprobe ivtv-fb alias msp3400 msp3400-ivtv #options ivtv ivtv_debug=255 radio=0 tuner=47 #options saa7127 enable_output=1 output_select=0 I've commented out a few lines that didn't seem to help me in the past, but I've kept them there unles I've missed something. Finally, here are the ivtv (and ivtv-fb) logs that are output in dmesg: tveeprom: no version for "struct_module" found: kernel tainted. saa7127: Unknown parameter `enable_output' saa7127: Ignoring new-style parameters in presence of obsolete ones saa7127: video encoder driver version V 0.3 loaded Linux video capture interface: v1.00 ivtv: ==================== START INIT IVTV ==================== ivtv: version 0.2.0 (rc3j) loading ivtv: Linux version: 2.6.10-1.771_FC2 686 REGPARM 4KSTACKS gcc-3.3 ivtv: In case of problems please include the debug info ivtv: between the START INIT IVTV and END INIT IVTV lines when ivtv: mailing the ivtv-devel mailinglist. ivtv: Autodetected WinTV PVR 350 card ivtv: Found an iTVC15 based chip ivtv: Unreasonably low latency timer, setting to 64 (was 32) ivtv: XXX PCI device: 0x01e0 vendor: 0x10de tveeprom: Hauppauge: model = 48132, rev = K268, serial# = 7997969 tveeprom: tuner = LG TAPE H001F MK3 (idx = 68, type = 47) tveeprom: tuner fmt = NTSC(M) (eeprom = 0x08, v4l2 = 0x00001000) tveeprom: audio_processor = MSP3440 (type = 11) ivtv: i2c attach [client=tveeprom[0],ok] msp34xx: ivtv version msp34xx: init: chip=MSP3448W-A2, has NICAM support, simple (D) mode, simpler (G) no-thread mode msp34xx: $Id$ compiled on: May 12 2005 12:53:20 ivtv: i2c attach [client=MSP3448W-A2,ok] saa7115: starting probe for adapter ivtv i2c driver #0 (0x10005) saa7115: detecting saa7115 client on address 0x42 saa7115: writing init values ivtv: i2c attach [client=saa7115[0],ok] saa7115: status: (1E) 0x48, (1F) 0xc0 tuner: chip found at addr 0xc2 i2c-bus ivtv i2c driver #0 ivtv: i2c attach [client=(tuner unset),ok] tuner: type set to 2 (Philips NTSC (FI1236,FM1236 and compatibles)) by insmod option tuner: The type=<n> insmod option will go away soon. tuner: Please use the tuner=<n> option provided by tuner: tv aard core driver (bttv, saa7134, ...) instead. saa7127: detecting saa7127 client on address 0x88 saa7127: Selecting NTSC video Standard saa7127: Selecting S-Video+Composite saa7127: Turn WSS off saa7127: Widescreen Mode 4:3 Full Format saa7127: Selecting Normal Encoder Input saa7127: Enable Video Output ivtv: i2c attach [client=saa7127[0],ok] ivtv: Tuner Type 47, Tuner formats 0x00001000, Radio: yes, Model 0x00ad2598, Revision 0x00000001 ivtv: NTSC tuner detected ivtv: Radio detected ivtv: Encoder revision: 0x02040024 ivtv: Encoder Firmware may be buggy, use version 0x02040011 ivtv: Decoder revision: 0x02020023 ivtv: Configuring WinTV PVR 350 card with 9 streams ivtv: Create DMA stream 0 using 256 16384 byte buffers 4194304 kbytes total ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, streamtype 0 minor 0 ivtv: Create DMA stream 1 ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, streamtype 1 minor 32 ivtv: Create stream 2 using 40 52224 byte buffers 2097152 kbytes total ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, streamtype 2 minor 224 ivtv: Create DMA stream 3 using 455 4608 byte buffers 2097152 kbytes total ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, streamtype 3 minor 24 ivtv: Create stream 4 ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, streamtype 4 minor 64 ivtv: Create DMA stream 5 using 16 65536 byte buffers 1048576 kbytes total ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, streamtype 5 minor 16 ivtv: Create stream 6 using 1024 2048 byte buffers 262144 kbytes total ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, streamtype 6 minor 228 ivtv: Create stream 7 ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, streamtype 7 minor 232 ivtv: Create DMA stream 8 ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, streamtype 8 minor 48 ivtv: Setting Tuner 47 tuner: type already set to 2, ignoring request for 47 saa7115: decoder set input (4) saa7115: now setting Composite input ivtv: Setting audio matrix to input 3, output 1 ivtv: Switching standard to NTSC. ivtv: ivtv_enc_thread: pid = 480, itv = 0xe09a41a0 ivtv: ivtv_dec_thread: pid = 481, itv = 0xe09a41a0 spurious 8259A interrupt: IRQ7. saa7115: decoder set norm NTSC saa7115: set audio: 0x01 saa7127: Setting Encoder Video Standard saa7127: Set NTSC Video Mode saa7127: Selecting NTSC video Standard ivtv: Initialized WinTV PVR 350, card #0 ivtv: ==================== END INIT IVTV ==================== ivtv-osd: Framebuffer module loaded (attached to ivtv card id 0) ivtv-osd: Framebuffer is at decoder-relative address 0x00510000 and has 1704960 bytes. ivtv-osd: screen coords: [0 0] -> [720 480] ivtv-osd: original global alpha = 208 ivtv-osd: current OSD state = 39 ivtv-osd: new global alpha = 208 (1 255 0) ivtv-osd: framebuffer at 0xc1510000, mapped to 0xe1810000, size 1350k ivtv-osd: mode is 720x480x32, linelength=2880 Console: switching to colour frame buffer device 90x30 ivtv-osd: fb0: iTVC15 TV out frame buffer device I have just noticed that the first line reports a kernel taint error, but I believe I had that earlier when the device was working for me...
