I have the exact same issue with my 150 MCE, I used to just close/open 
mplayer to get rid of the jerkiness but I'll give skipping forward a 
try. I haven't managed to get VLC to play from /dev/video0 yet so I'm 
not sure wether the problem is specific to mplayer.
